What You’ll Practice
- Infant and child CPR: how CPR changes for small bodies.
- Adult CPR and AED: strong compressions and hands-on time with an AED trainer.
- Choking: back blows and thrusts for babies, kids and adults.
- First aid: bleeding, allergic reactions, burns and sudden illness.
What to Expect on Class Day
Finish the online part before you come in. Wear comfortable clothes, since you’ll kneel on the floor. Your instructor shows each skill, and then you practice it on adult, child and infant manikins.
Once you pass, you get your Red Cross card by email the same day. It’s good for two years.
Questions About Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Does this meet childcare licensing rules? In most cases, yes. Most licensing offices in Virginia, Maryland and DC accept the Red Cross Adult and Pediatric course. Still, confirm with your licensing specialist.
